- THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 01 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR ORIONCREW AND SERVICE MODULES MODEL WITH BASE. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s)in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ anda written amendment will not be issued.The purpose of this amendment is to post responses to industry questions received.The due date for receipt of offers is NOT extended.INDUSTRY QUESTIONS AND RESPONSESQuestion 1: Is there any equivalent commercial model to this solicitation or to any otherportion of the Constellation architecture or even equivalent commercial models of theApollo project hardware that can help us understand the level of detail and finish? Response to Question 1: The plexieglass solar panels, we will need example of pattern forpanels. Question 2: Will mature drawings and renderings be available? Response to Question 2:NASA will supply all technical drawings, renderings, etc. to create accurate model? Orwill we need to go to public domain sources?Question 3: How can we obtain more information regarding this solicitation in respect tothe details of these models (i.e. pictures, drawings, etc.) to determine the cost ofmaking said models? Response to Question 3: No, NASA will not supply technical drawings. Information is readily available to the public. There is a full scale model of the Orioncapsule at the KSC Visitor Complex. In addition Orion information can be fond athttp://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/constellation/orion/ (also scroll down and select fullresolution images link). In addition, there are many models at NASA Centers that thegeneral public has access to.Question 4: The aluminum base and stand are understood. Any particular finish required,or just brushed smooth? Response to Question 4: Brush smoothQuestion 5: Is fiberglass shell for the module necessary or can any materials be used formodule itself, as long as it is durable and light? Response to Question 5: Any materialcan be used, but fiberglass is preferred. Question 6: Are both models designed to be portable? Response to Question 6: YesQuestion 7: The 1/12 figure sketched into the base of the model. Does it need to be anastronaut or can it be any generic figure? Response to Question 7: An astronautQuestion 8: Will NASA supplies adhesive logos for case and model? Response to Question8: NoQuestion 9: Solar panels will be removable for travel; do they need to pivot or just plugin place? Would we be expected to allow the disassembly of solar panels from the mainvehicle or the maim vehicle from the base, etc.? Response to Question 9: The solarpanels shall be removable for packaging and travel along with the main vehicle from base.Question 10: Is the requirement solely exterior only, no cockpit interior or operablehatches or covers are required? Response to Question 10: Correct. External only. Question 11: Will NASA KSC supply text for display plaque and desired font. Response toQuestion 11: No.Question 12: Will NASA require a hard shell travel case and packing material, or is onetime only crating acceptable? A durable travel case is recommended if this model isgoing to be brought to public functions on a routine basis. If this model is to be usedin multiple classroom settings, does this mean it will be crated and shipped repeatedly? If so, does this mean that the container we build for shipment to KSC must be ruggedenough to withstand repeated packing, shipping, unpacking, etc.? Response to Question12: Yes, a reusable traveling case is required for the model. Question 13: Will the paint scheme include a NASA logo, other logos, or text in aspecific font style? Response to Question 13: Yes. The exterior should contain NASAlogos.Please see the NASA website for current artistic drawings of Orion. Question 14: Will we be able to adjust our quoted fee if the final required level ofsurface/feature detail significantly exceeds the apparent level of detail shown on themodel sketch? Response to Question 14: No, the purchase order will be Firm Fixed Price.
