Description
Item 0001: NSN: 1730-01-182-6954, Part Number: 68D290048-1005, TRAILER, LIFT, GROUND. This Handling Dolly is a three-caster, T-shaped, mobile assembly used for transporting, raising, and lowering of the conformal fuel tanks (CFT) for the F-15 aircraft. The handling dolly has forward and aft cradle assemblies that attach to and support a fuel tank. When used to install and remove the conformal fuel tank, the handling dolly is raised and lowered to position the tank to the aircraft. The handling dolly can also provide yaw, pitch, and lateral movement of the fuel tank to correctly fit the tank to the aircraft. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: The dolly provides a combination of roll, pitch, yaw, lateral, and longitudinal movements to align a conformal fuel tank with the F-15 aircraft. A hand operated hydraulic pump raises and lowers the dolly by extending and retracting a hydraulic cylinder. As the cylinder is retracted it pulls the forward and aft running gear toward the center of the dolly, raising the dolly. A single dolly can be towed by itself or two dollies can be connected together for tandem towing. The dolly consists of two cradle assemblies, a tube assembly, a frame assembly, forward and aft running gear, and a hydraulic system.
