Description
The U.S. Department of Energy, Idaho Operations Office (DOE-ID),intends toaward a firm-fixed price, sole-source purchase order under FAR Part 13 with Canberra Industries, Inc., 800 Research Pkwy, Meriden, CT 06450-7169, forthefollowing: 6 ea. - Dual Alpha Spectrometer, Alpha Analyst Hardware1 ea. - Alpha Analyst Chassis and Hardware12 ea. - Alpha PIPS Detector1 ea. - OptiPlex 755 Minitower2 days - Installation Service12 ea. - Spectrometer Shelf Holder12 ea. - 1 inch Alpha Spec Sample Holder The Canberra Alpha Analyst counting system is currently being used byDOE-IDfor all its alpha spectrometry measurements. The system is comprised of atower module capable of housing up to 48 alpha spectrometers. Currently,DOE-ID has 24 spectrometers in use and is procuring 12 additionalspectrometersthrough this sole source contract. Because Canberra spectrometer modulesarethe only modules that will fit into the existing tower, match up with theexisting interface hardware, and can be controlled with the existing AlphaAnalyst software, it has been determined that, in accordance with FAR6.302-1,Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will SatisfyAgency Requirements. The cost of this acquisition is anticipated to be nomorethan $50,000. The NAICS is 334516. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES. However, any firmthatbelieves it can meet the requirements may give written notification priortothe response due date. Responses are required to be submitted before June27,2008, 5:00 p.m. ET. Responses shall be submitted via e-mail tosurrusjk@id.doeand supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail todemonstratethe ability to perform the requirements listed. Responses received will beevaluated; however, a determination by the Government not to compete theproposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely withinthediscretion of the Government. Telephone requests or inquires will not beaccepted.
