- Description
- The unique design of Synthes' retractor set allows placement of the retractor throughout the procedure without having to be removed and replaced several times. Since this retractor is radiolucent, it can remain in the wound while X-rays are taken. A retractor that is not radiolucent has to be set, removed and reset several times throughout the case; this increases chances for damage or complications; once a retractor is set in a good spot, it may be difficult to get it reset to the "perfect" spot when it is constantly being moved. This retractor can serve a dual purpose, serving both specialties that perform this type of surgical procedure. This reduces the need to have separate retractors for each specialty.
