- Description
- NASA/JSC has a requirement for unique enigneering inputs to NASA JSC describingoptical sensors and sensing requirements for ALHAT (Autonomous Landing and HazardAvoidance Technology) autonomous 3D sensing operation.The ALHAT project was establishedto develop the new and unique landing technologies which include 3D sensors for precisedigital images of the lunar surface and terrain. The period of performance isanticipated to be a one year base plus two 1-year options.NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from FastMetrix Inc. FastMetrix is the only knowncontractor in the U.S. that has direct experience, familiarity and expertise with eachlidar sensor that is currently being developed, or has been developed in the U.S. andEurope. In addition, FastMetrix has been supporting NASA's ALHAT project for the past2.5 years under DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) and NASA JSC contracts.The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.See Note26.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 1:30 p.m. local timeon July 3, 2008. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
