- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD), Code 611 is being funded to develop aluminum shipbuilding technology for the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). The project approach is to obtain technical support from LCS 1 and LCS 2 ship builders and ship designers to assist the Navy in identifying structural components for design optimization, develop design concepts, and develop advanced technologies for the design concepts. The ship builders and ship designers will be tasked to provide technical advice and execution, assist in developing engineering designs, and assist with ship integration. NSWCCD intends to negotiate six non-competitive procurements with Lockheed Martin Corp., Marinette Marine Corp., Gibbs & Cox, Inc., Bollinger Shipyards, Inc., Austral USA, and General Dynamics Bath Iron Works. These companies are the lead ship designers, shipbuilders, naval architects, and systems integrators for the LCS 1 and LCS 2. Their participation in this endeavor ensures successful integration of design improvements to the LCS 1 and LCS 2. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all responsible sources submitting proposals within 15 days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
