Description
This Amendment is being issued to answer clarifying questions reqarding the Work Specifications. Bidders Questions Work Item 635-11-001 Title: Anti-sweat Coating; install Q1 Upon inspection of vessel; 1.2.2 Crew Living Space (2-5-1-L) and 1.2.3 Crew Living Space (2-5-2-L) Both of these spaces exterior shell and overhead, subject to condensation, were coated with Tempcoat 101 in 2006 at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard while the vessel was in the water. Due to condensation from the vessel being in the water, from main deck up 18" outer shell port and starboard, tempcoat did not adhere well. This area port and starboard, due to condensation, should be redone. Are we to re-coat total area as per specification para 3.1.3 or can we apply to the 18" port and starboard shell? A1. Remove existing deteriorated coating as designated by the SUPERVISOR of Shipbuilding to get a suitable surface for coating application on all areas of both living spaces outer shell. Work Item 635-11-002 Title: Hull Insulation; install Q2. Can you supply specifications on the acoustical insulation? A2. Reference 2.5 in NAVSEA Standard 009-11, calls out material requirements and applications. Q3. Is the insulation F.G. or mineral fiber? Does the insulation have a septum and if so is it lead or mass loaded vinyl? A3. Reference 2.5 in NAVSEA Standard 009-11, calls out material requirements and applications. Q4. Do we do flats only or stiffeners also? A4. Stiffeners also will be insulated. Q5. Does the base metal paint contain lead? A5. NO Q6 On the other side of the aft bulkhead are water and lube oil tanks. Does acoustical insulation get applied to these areas? A6. Areas of concern include but are not limited to: Overhead of engine room (port and starboard deck and inboard bulkheads of living spaces above engine room), Forward engine room bulkhead not to include Fuel Oil day tank, Aft bulkhead not including Lube Oil or Water tanks for a total of 900 Sq feet as called out in the work spec. Specific areas will be designated by the SUPERVISOR of Shipbuilding after Contract Award. Q7. The other side of the forward bulkhead is crew living spaces.
