Description
Airborne Network Technology Review Days The Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate of Rome, NY is participating in the 4thAnnual “Airborne Network Technology Review Days” to be conducted at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Utica, New York on 5-7 August 2008, sponsored by the Erie Canal Chapter (NY) of AFCEA. The objective of the Review Days is to provide a forum for industry and academia to discuss with government representatives the technologies required for formulation of the deployable airborne network(s). These Review Days will highlight approaches and current plans by the DoD to deploy airborne networks, with special emphasis this year on "Science...Delivering Tactical-Networking to the Warfighter". Participants will have the opportunity to engage government leaders, researchers and scientists on approaches to solving the obstacles of networking airborne assets, review technology demonstrations, and discuss various experiments and practices. AFRL, Rome NY; along with NRL, Washington DC, and CERDEC, Ft Monmouth NJ, are assisting with and participating in this year’s AFCEA conference. This year’s Review Days feature: a) Keynote addresses from the Commander, Electronic Systems Center, LtGen Ted Bowlds; the Commander, Air University, LtGen Allen Peck; the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for C3, Space and Spectrum, Dr Ron Jost; the Director, Warfare Integration (N6F), RADM Sandy Daniels; and the Commander 8th AF and JFCC-GSI, LtGen Robert Elder; b) overviews and technology briefs from the Military Services and DARPA on their perspectives for implementing an airborne network, c) technology presentations from government and non-government researchers, plus d) two Technology Panel sessions focused on the concept and design process [M&S, Emulation, Rapid-Prototyping, and Test & Experimentation] leading to the development and fielding of a warfighter network. In conjunction with the Review Days, AFCEA is also hosting the Airborne Network Technology Expo 2008 during the social hour on Wednesday evening, 6 August. The purpose of Expo 2008 is to provide industry an opportunity to present their perspectives on advancing airborne network technology and to facilitate discussions among academia, industry and government (military and civilian). Due to space restrictions, Expo 2008 is limited to standard Poster Boards and/or PowerPoint/PC Demo presentations. You may select one or any combination of the two methods. Each method of presentation MUST relate to advancing airborne network technology. Expo 2008 is being held at the Radisson Conference Center and space is limited so only two per company site will be allowed. Also because of the limited space, selection will be on a first received basis. Additional Review Days details, registration and Expo information are available at: http://www.afceaeriecanal.org/ant/. Unfortunately, we request that organizational participation at the Review Days be limited to a maximum of two (2) individuals per organizational location as the total attendance will be limited to 300 persons. Attendees must be US Citizens or Permanent Resident Aliens. Proof of status is required for registration. Clearances are not required and all discussions will be unclassified. Note: this is NOT a "bidder's conference" and this announcement is not a contract, request for proposal, a promise to contract, or a commitment of any kind. The Government will NOT assume liability for costs incurred by an offeror for presentations, marketing efforts or data offered for examination; therefore the cost of preparing information in response to this notice is not considered an allowable direct charge to the Government. Registration is available now through http://www.afceaeriecanal.org/ant/. The Registration Fees are as follows: Early Bird (received by COB 26 July) - $425; 27 July to 2 August - $525; at the door - $625. The Review Days registration fee includes conference costs, continental breakfasts, lunches, free parking and refreshments for each day, handout materials, a banquet on Tuesday, 5 August and a social hour at the Expo 2008 with heavy hors d’oeuvres on Wednesday, 6 August 2008. NOTICE: Since attendance at the conference is limited to 300 attendees, only the first 300 paid registrations will be accepted.
