Description
Refer to VA9786-05-RI-0167 when forwarding any information or inquiries. The Department of Veterans Affairs, National Cemetery Administration (NCA), Memorial Programs Service (MPS) is soliciting a Request for Information for Industry assistance in making a determination concerning the manufacture and use of a proposed medallion or other device to be permanently affixed on privately-purchased monuments. These monuments are made of marble, granite, bronze or other headstone or grave marker materials. The medallion or other device is to be affixed to marble/granite headstones or bronze markers or other potential material with glue, cement or other material used in private sector. Product must withstand exposure to inclement weather including the all extremes of heat and cold. When attached, the medallion or other device or adhesive must not bleed or discolor the headstones/markers in any way. The VA NCA is also seeking input on the size and dimensions that would be most appropriate for wide dissemination to private cemeteries and mausoleums. The primary areas being considered are: Type of material to be used to manufacture the medallion or other device; Type of Adhesive, or other method to use to permanently join the medallion or other device to the monument, and, Suggested size of medallion or other device. As an example, materials being considered include bronze, cast aluminum, hard plastics or any additional types of materials used in public sector or contractors expertise. Please provide both positive and negative feedback for each material suggested using the attached format. Written documentation, such as Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), on suggested product is requested. Questions concerning this RFI must be submitted electronically, in writing via email by COB July 16, 2008. All submittals of responses are required to be received in the same manner no later than COB July 21, 2008. Please complete the form below concerning the medallion or other device being considered by the Department of Veterans Affairs, National Cemetery Administration. Annotate the preferred selection and explain your choice. Include any specific information to demonstrate the reason.
