- The US Fish and Wildlife Service, Contracting and General Services, Portland, Oregon plans to award using other than full and open competition to Ocean Marine Industries, Inc., Chesapeake, VA for the following items: 1)DIDSON-dual frequency identification sonar, standard version 1.1 MHz and 1.8 Mhz, depth rating 1000 ft (300m), rear facing connector2) Compass Module3) 100 ft length Ethernet protocol This device referred to as an underwater acoustic camera is designed to provide high-resolution images in turbid and low visibility environments. The sonar is capable of imaging, sizing, and counting various species in low visibility and turbid waters. DIDSON is the only commercially available high definition imaging sonar which was previously classifed under military equipment. Sound Metrics Corporation of Lake Forest Park, Washington holds the exclusive Intellectual Property license to manufacture and produce the DIDSON sonar. Ocean Marine Industries of Chesapeak, Virginia is the exclusive distributor for Sound Metrics Corp. No other firms or companies can supply this product and custom cable assemblies.
