Description
The U.S. Army Armaments, Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC),Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000, is currently seeking interested sources for theprocurement of 75 Acoustic Gunfire Detection Systems (GDS) that have proven capableof being integrated with remote weapon stations. The government has a need for a fielded production-ready Acoustic Gunfire Detectionsystem that is integrated with an Inertial Navigation System (INS). The system shallhave the following capabilities: detection of sniper fire, including bearing, elevation andrange to the point of fire, and ability to alert the user through visual and/or audio display. The system must be able to be integrated/mounted to a HMMWV M1151 and othertactical vehicles TBD. The system must be capable of both stationary and on-the-moveoperations. The system must have a previously demonstrated on-the-move capability ofdetecting and tracking gunfire events and its point of origin while the system/host vehicleis moving. This includes the slewing and cueing of the remote weapon station as well askeeping the remote weapon station locked onto the detected sniper event, independent ofthe dynamics of the system/host vehicle. The system shall utilize a distributed architecture comprised of multiple acoustic sensor arrays exhibiting a level of system robustness where if one of the multiple sensors wereto fail, the system shall still be operational. The acoustic sensors shall be conformal tothe roofline of the host vehicle, where the placement of the acoustic sensors shall be outof the line of fire of the remote weapon station and not interfere with the normaloperation of the remote weapon station. The system shall have the ability to operate in all weather conditions (i.e., rain, sand, snow, fog, wind, ice, etc. as defined in MILSTD 810). The system shall operate under temperatures between -40 degrees C and 60 degrees C (as defined in MIL-STD-810F). The system shall be capable of detecting threats from a variety of weapon types whichinclude weapons that fire 5.56mm, 7.62mm and 12.5mm ammo rounds. The Acoustic GDS shallbe integrated with an INS and demonstrate the ability to slew to cue and track the shooter location within the field of view (FOV) of the remote weapons station optics. In the event of dual/multi-sniper fire, the system Graphic User Interface (GUI) shall becapable of displaying multiple sniper events at a time on the screen. The system GUI shall be capable of maintaining and graphically display the history of the system/host vehicles dynamics/movements. The system GUI shall graphically depict the position/line of fire of the remote weapons station. The system shall have a downloadable shot recall file maintaining the history of detected events by the system. The system GUI software shall be capable of being uploaded and operated on anywindows XP platform. The systems hardware shall be reliable greater than 90 percent of the time within a 96 hour time period. The system shall have an overall 90 percent or greater operatingreliability. The system shall have a quick diagnostic bit test to ensure functionality. This notice is to determine if there are sources capable of meeting this requirement. All responsible, interested offerors are encouraged to submit their capabilities /qualification data and any pertinent information in hard copy or via email withinfifteen (15) calendar days to: Joint Munitions and Lethality Life Cycle ManagementCommand Acquisition Center, AMSML-AQ-SW, Bldg 9, Attn: Mary Krisanda, Picatinny, NJ 07805-5000.
