Description
Dear Vendor: With the evolving mission needs of the war fighter, DSCC aims to improve support and readiness through an Industrial Product-Support Vendor (IPV) program. Therefore, the Department of Defense will release two solicitations for a type of a supply chain management process that will provide innovative and responsive logistics support to meet military needs for the following Army maintenance sites: Letterkenny Army Depot (LEAD) and Tobyhanna Army Depot (TYAD). The IPV solicitations will capitalize on the strengths of the supply chain integrator and the Government's ability to improve the supply chain process while increasing both support availability and parts reliability. This initiative will require vendors to provide items classified as "benchstock - hardware" for the military depot or maintenance facility listed above. IPV will improve DLA logistics reponse time and increase mission readiness at a cost comparable to traditional support methods. The term of the contract will consist of a base period of four years with wo, two-year option periods for a total of eight years. To provide the business community an opportunity to ask questions about the solicitations and the IPV program, the Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC), located in Columbus, Ohio, will host a pre-proposal conference on 16 July 2008. More importantly, the conference will provide small business the opportunity to netowrk; likewise, the companies will have an opportunity to learn how they can qualify as sources of supply for IPV. The TYAD solicitaiton will have increased subcontracting opportunties with IPV vendor who will be required to achieve challenging subcontrqacting goals and partnering agreements for an unrestricted solicitation. The LEAD solicitation will be set-aside for small businesses only. Additional information regarding this acquisition has been posted on the DSCC website, http:www.dscc.dla.mil/programs/IPVindex.html. Breakout sessions will be available from 1:30 to 3:30 for contractors to discuss one on one with acquisition and small business to discuss IPV only. If you would like to schedule a one on one session, please indicate when you RSVP to the follwoing email address: DSCC.IPV@dla.mil by 14 July 2008. Sincerely, Ivan K. Hall Deputy Director Land Supplier Operations
