- Description
- The Consumer Product Safety Commission Director for Engineering Science is soliciting services to have a contractor work independently and not as agent of the government to develop a test prototype smoke alarms using multi sensor arrays to provide significant improvement in residential fire/ smoke detection and better discrimination to nuisance conditions. The contractor shall also develop and evaluate the use of sensor arrays in improving the detection capability discrimination of smoke alarms. Potential sensor combinations shall include but not limited to heat, ionization and photoelectric sensors as well as gas sensors such as carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) sensors. Additional research is needed to further develop advance smoke alarm technology and to demonstrate feasibility for application in the residential market. These applications shall include fire detection in residential, commercial, marine and aerospace industries. The Government intends to procure these items through commercial procedures in accordance with FAR Part 12. The NAICS code is. Anticipated date of issue is 28 July 2008 3:00 pm.
