Description
NASA/KSC has a requirement for the following Current viewing Resistors (CVRs) andvoltage dividers:Description: 30A Current View Resistor (CVR), 0.00333 Ohms, 15W; P/N W 2 005 4Stud Mod. 004 -Quantity: 8Description: 20A CVR, 0.005 Ohms, 15W, P/N W 2 005 4Stud - Quantity:10Description: 40A CVR, 0.0025 Ohms, 15W, P/N W-4-0025-4Stud -Quantity: 4Description: 50A CVR, 0.002 Ohms, 15W, P/N W-4-0025-4Stud - Quantity: 4Description: 80A CVR, 0.00125 Ohms, 15W, P/N W-8-001-4Stud - Quantity: 4Description: Voltage Divider, P/N VD 20:1 -Quantity:15NASA/KSC intends to purchase the items from T&M Research Products Inc. pursuant to FAR13.106 (b), for the acquisition of supplies or services determined to be reasonablyavailable from only one source and pursuant to 10 U.S.C 2304 (c)(1), only one responsiblesource and no other supply or service will satisfy agency requirements. These CVRs will be used in a section of the WX Station Constellation subsystem that willexpose them to high power, high energy pulses resulting from lightning strikes. TheseCVRs are the only shunts that can handle high power (15 watts) and high energy (1120Joules) pulses and still maintain functionality. They are also able to provide afrequency response that ranges from DC to greater than 10MHz. They have been shown toendure the vibration environment that a spacecraft experiences during launch. Theirrugged design also allows them to handle high power pulses, which will be experiencedduring use, without degradation of their current sensing capabilities. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon July 13, 2008. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
