Description
1.1 The Public Works Business Center (PWBC) Operations Branch is requesting miscellaneous upgrades to Building 0-X101. Building 0-X101 is located on Chicken Rd. across from McRidge Rd. The work shall be on or about 04 August 2008. 1.2 The contractor shall install electrical circuits, relocate card reader, install security screen and install glass security barrier at 0-X101, as indicated in the following paragraphs. Slides for Building 0-X101 and the following paragraphs will be available as an attachment or by request. 1.3 Relocate existing card reader to new location. Saw cut and remove a 12 sq. section of asphalt at new location of card reader. Saw-cut and remove a section of asphalt from present location of reader to new location for the installation of conduit. Disconnect reader. Install a weather-proof, flush mount box and install PVC underground to new location. PVC shall be installed a minimum of 24 deep. Extend control circuit to new location. The 2-each, bollards shall be removed and holes filled and compacted. Install concrete pad at new location for reader. Pad shall be 8 deep by 12 sq. PVC shall be installed in concrete. Anchor bolts shall be installed in concrete for reader. Install reader and test. Install 4-each, 8 diameter, steel bollards around reader. Bollards shall be installed 4-ft. deep and 4-ft. exposed. Bollards shall be filled with concrete and have rounded top. Bollards shall be set in a 16 sq. X 36 deep concrete filled hole. All exposed ground shall be securely tamped in 4 lifts. Asphalt shall be installed to meet the existing thickness of asphalt. Bollards shall a prime coat and 2 finished coats of paint. Paint color is mission brown, Federal # 20059. Paint a 4 wide, traffic yellow stripe from reader to guard shack. See slide 6. 1.4 Note the measurements on slide may not be correct. The contractor will be responsible for his own measurements. Install barriers at main entrance card readers and at metal detector. Fabricate 2-each, stainless steel, rail and picket barriers and install on each side of card readers at front entrance. Barriers shall be made from 1 sq. stainless steel tubing welded together. Barrier shall have top, bottom and side rails with 3 pickets spaced equally apart. Barrier shall be 48 high. Barrier shall be secured to wall and to existing metal post. Install a 4-ft. high glass barrier on each side of the metal detector. The glass shall be installed in a store front type enclosure. The glass shall be tempered and minimum 3/8 thick. A metal tube post shall be installed in the concrete on each side of the metal detector to help secure the wall. No connections shall be made to metal detector. The frame shall be bronze in color. A 12 sq. dish type plate shall be install on top of barrier on both sides of metal detector to hold personal items. See slide 5. 1.5 Locate the 2-each motion controllers for the lights in the ceiling. Install a switch circuit ahead of the controllers so the lights can be controlled if the motion detectors are broken. Install wiremold down from the ceiling at locations shown on sketch and install wiremold boxes, circuits and switches. See slide 7. 1.6 In rm. M117 make a inch tap to the large copper air line at ceiling. Install a cut-off valve on the inch pipe at the tap. Extend the copper line across the ceiling, install a tee and install a line down wall and install a cut-off valve. Extend the line at the tee approximately 10-ft., install an elbow and install a line down wall and install cut-off valve. Lines shall be supported every 5-ft. with stand-off supports. In rm. M119 connect to the existing valve on back wall, extend copper to with-in 3-ft. of wall and install cut-off valve. Install stand-off supports on the existing vertical pipe on wall an on new pipe. All copper pipes shall the type L. Disconnect the machine circuits from safety switches in rm. M119. Disconnect and remove the 2 safety switches. Drill 2-each holes through wall between rooms M119 and M117. Re-install safety switches in rm. M117. Install LBs on wall boxes in rm. M119, install EMT up wall and LB through wall to safety switches. Extend circuits from wall boxes to safety switches and connect. Install 2-each, general duty, 480-volt, 150-amp, 3-phase safety switches in rm. M119. Install EMT from each safety switch across ceiling to panels in electrical room. Install EMT from 1 safety switch to panel H3, the EMT from second safety switch will connect to panel H3A. Install 125-amp, 3-phase breakers in panels. Install a 125-amp, 3-phase, 480-volt circuit to each safety switch. Install 125-amp fuses in safety switches. See slide 4. 1.7 Install 8 ga. wire, woven into 2 diamond mesh, crimped and primed for painting in 8-ft. wide X 9-ft. high opening. A 3-ft. wide X 7-ft. high door made with same material shall be installed in opening. The door shall be split with a 12 wide shelf installed across the opening. A door latch and a series 2000, grade 2 lock shall be installed. Two keys shall be furnished. A sliding bolt lock shall be installed on interior side to secure the halfs together. A detail for the door and woven wire will be furnished. The entire wire section shall be painted with 2-coats of paint to match existing gray color on walls. See slide 8. 1.8 Contractor shall provide shop drawings for items on slide 5 and slide 8 for approval. Slide will be provided with solicitation. 1.9 All materials and workmanship is to be warranted for a minimum of one year. 1.10 Hours of Work: The contractor shall accomplish this work between the hours of 7:30 a.m. 4:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday. No work will be done on the weekends or Federal holidays without prior written approval of the contracting officer.
