Description
NASA/ARC has a requirement to expand the capabilities of the Thermal ProtectionSystems Branch to do basic materials research. To accomplish this, it is desired toreplace our current Instron Model 4202 load frame with a Instron Model 5569 systemincluding a load cell, extensometry options, high temperature chamber, cooling options,mounting brackets, upper and lower pullrods for chamber, installation, ASTM Verificationservices and training as listed in the following paragraph. This notice is being issuedas a Request for Quotations (RFQ). THIS IS A REQUIREMENT FOR THE INSTRON BRAND NAMEONLY. NO OTHER PRODUCTS WILL BE CONSIDERED. Technical specifications: Model 5569 Table Mounted Materials Testing System, Capacity 50kN (5000kg, 11250lb) withEnglish Language option; 120V voltage option; Maximum Crosshead Travel of 1135mm(44.7in); Horizontal Test Space of 420 mm (16.5in); Single Test Space (below movingcrosshead only); Heavy Duty Load Frame Support Table for All Dual Column Table TopModels, including extra high, extra versions and the following capacity: 679 Kg (1500lb)every distributed load. Table top dimensions: 762x1524mm (30x60in). Height adjustable635mm to 813mm (25in to 32in). Convection shield, and check nutincluded. Installation, ASTM Verification Services& Training: System Installation. Installation performed by an Instron ServiceEngineer/Representative. Depending on the system configuration, some or all of thefollowing activities will performed: Set up of load frame, make all physical andelectrical connections (except 3 phase power and water), Mount and test all peripheralfixtures and transducers, Install environmental chambers, advanced extensometers, etc,Check correct operation of all hydraulic, pneumatic, assemblies, Check correct operationof all electronic components and transducers, configure controller and test for correctoperation including adjustments and tuning, Also To comply with ASTM E4, Forceverification must be performed at Installation: Force Verification,0-60 Kip in Tension&Compression at Specifications for one Load Cell by Instron Field Service Engineer,Additional Force Verification, 0-60 Kip in Tension& Compression to Instron Specificationswhich exceed ASTM Specifications, for one additional load Cell by Instron ServiceEngineer., Crosshead Speed and Displacement Verification. This is recommended to ensurethe testing speed and position measurement are accurate within the requirement of thetesting method. The verification of displacement is important if position values arereported as part of your results. The service includes verification of up to threecrosshead between 1mm/min and 1250mm/min.and a five-point verification of displacementover a rage specified by the speeds and displacements are verified to an accuracy of 0.5%of reading. Also with Strain Verification and accuracy classification per ASTME83: StrainVerification, Static Extensometer or Deflectometer, Strain Verification, one(1)additional Static Extensometer Deflectometer, Strain Verification, Video Extensometer.For a signal Filed View (FOV) lens on a video extensometer at installation FOV lens for avideo extensometer at installation.This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared inaccordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additionalinformation included in this notice.
