Description
The US Army, Joint Munitions and Lethality Life Cycle Management Command(JM&L LCMC), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ, anticipates issuing a Request for Quote (RFQ) for the production of propellant bags for the XM350 Propelling Charge. The XM350 105mm Propelling Charge is a new design now in development. One or two different designs of cloth bags will be used to pack experimental propellants for ballistic testing to determine if the new propellant(s) meet functional requirements. The RFQ will be for a one year Research Development Testing & Evaluation (RDT&E) effort. It is anticipated that there will be a requirement for the manufacture of: (a) three different sizes of 3-dimensional, cylindrical, 3-part bags, and (b) five different sizes of 2-dimensional, rectangular, 1-part bags. Both bags are to be made in accordance with the following Military Specifications, Standards, and Developmental Sketches: MIL-C-12800: Cloth, Acrylic (For Cartridge Bags), MIL-T-63072: Thread, Polyester, ASTM-D6193: Stitches And Seams, ASTM-D-3951: Standard Practice For Commercial Shipping, and PDF files: 3-D Cylindrical Bag Assembly Sketches dated 24-June-2008 and 2-D Rectangular Bag Assembly Sketch dated 24-June-2008. The Request for Quotes, which will address a requirement to produce these Propellant Bags, will be posted on or about 18 August 2008. The point of contact for this requirement is Christina Nigro, AMSML-AQ-AC, Bldg. 9, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000. Email: Christina.Nigro@us.army.mil.
