Description

The Navy intends to procure T-45 retrofit kits for the RAMP and associated engineering support efforts with the McDonnell Douglas Corporation (MDC), a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company. This effort for the Navy will procure nine baseline aircraft kits to meet the FY09 requirement, an option for thirteen aircraft kits to meet the FY10 requirement, and an option for six aircraft kits to meet the FY11 requirement. These units will be used to perform RAMP upgrades on the T-45A aircraft with the T-45C crew station and associated avionics systems, including head down displays, upgraded Pilot’s Display Unit (PDU), a MIL-STD-1553 data bus, standby instruments common to other platforms, and government furnished Multi-Function Color Displays and Global Positioning System-based navigation system. Since the inception of the T-45 Training System (Full Scale Development approval was granted in 1984), MDC has functioned as the sole designer, developer, system integrator and manufacturer of both the T-45A and T-45C aircraft. As such, MDC possesses unique expertise with respect to the design, engineering and performance details of the aircraft.
