Description
This is modification 3 to the synopsis entitled Mast Climbers-Scaffolding which wasposted on June 11, 2008. The following questions have been submitted with answers.1.QUESTION:Will there be any external forces on the mast climber during testing?ANSWER:The only external forces would be from movement of the building due to windloads andvibration. Under 70 m.p.h winds, the top of the building moves 10".2.QUESTION:Is there a desired speed of travel?ANSWER:Yes, a minimum of 25 feet per minute.3. QUESTION:Where on the drawings are the access points shown?ANSWER:They are close to the mast. You should see a note on the drawing calling for a gate 36"wide.4.QUESTION:Can we bid a plain machine that meets the requirements as well as a machine that meetsthe requirements plus has some options?ANSWER:Yes5.QUESTION:Can we anchor into the steel where there is no concrete?ANSWER:The floor may be covered with a self leveling grout. We have the lay out of the floor soeveryone will know where the steel is.6.QUESTION:Will options be considered separately or in total?ANSWER:All options shall be quoted separately7.QUESTIONS:Could we offer a different solution to the two mast climbers asked for?ANSWER:Different solutions will be considered as long as it meets the present statement of workand is technically acceptable.8.QUESTION:Will the middle area be open?ANSWER:Yes, this is where the test article will be.9.QUESTION:Can we link two towers in the middle?ANSWER:No.10.QUESTION:Can the corners on the platform be squared instead of gradual?ANSWER:No, the corners need to be rounded edges11.QUESTION:Do the gates by the mastclimber drive units have to be 36" wide or can they be smaller?ANSWER:Yes,they must be 36" wide, because we will have equipment that will be wheeled onto theplatforms on carts. These carts need a 36" opening.12.QUESTION:(Single Configuration)-What is the maximum length configuration for the singlemastclimber?ANSWER:Whatever the recommended length is per the manufacturer.13.QUESTION:Do you want the single mastclimber to be configured in a straight line or ina U shape? If in a U shape, what is the maximum length of the deck on either side of thedrive unit?ANSWER:It will be straight14.QUESTION: I see on the blueprints that there are two twin mastclimber units (4 driveunits). Will you only want to purchase one twin (2 drive units) or will it be two twins(4 drive units)ANSWER:4 drive units15.QUESTION:What is the maximum lenght of the mastclimber? (working height and tower height)ANSWER:The tower height is on the drawing. The max platform height will be about 8 feet belowthat.16.QUESTION:What is the maximum outside diameter that the mastclimber deck/work platform can be? Whatis the diameter of the structure where the mastclimber will be installed?ANSWER:The outside dimensions of the platforms at the towers is 412". The outside dimensions ofthe platforms 90 degrees from the towers is 365". These are max. dimensions because ofthe location of the other test location in the building and the clearance we would liketo have from the building. The test article diameter varies form 152" to 146".The due date for responses is not extended.Documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet.
