- The US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), Fort Bragg, North Carolina, is seeking capabilities and commercial availability of a headphone adapter that is compatible with the soldier’s Bose intercom system in the new Tactical Vehicles. This sources sought is issued with the intent of locating existing technology and is not intended as a request for new product development. The adapter should allow the user to use the Sordan and Peltor headset with both the radios and the Bose intercom system. This adapter will be incorporated into existing systems that support tactical communications requirements in tactical vehicles. The information sought herein is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a request for quote (RFQ), request for proposal (RFP), and invitation for bid (IFB) or as an obligation or commitment on the part of the Government to acquire any product or service. There shall be no basis for claims against the government as a result of information submitted in response to the sources sought announcement. The government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this announcement or otherwise pay for any information submitted by respondents to this request. This notice is for market research purposes only and is not indicative of a full requirement. Should a full requirement arise, the full requirement will be detailed in the solicitation, if issued. The specifications of the equipment include: 1. Adapter Cable must have a 2-Position Toggle Switch to change from hot microphone with a VIC-3 intercom and the ability to push to talk on the PRC-148 radio. 2. Adapter Cable must be coiled and extend to 6 feet when uncoiled. 3. Adapter must be compatible with Sordan/Peltor headset. 4. Adapter must have remote finger and palm PTT’s. 5. Adapter must operate in temperatures up to 150 degrees Fahrenheit. 6. Adapter must be military aviation intercom system compatible. 7. Adapter must provide rapid transition between mounted and dismounted operations. 8. Adapter must be able to connect with Y interface adapter. 9. Adapter must have a Transport Bag Sources Sought Instructions: A written response with complete technical information is requested of those suppliers who can provide an adapter meeting the required specifications. Technical information shall include the vendor’s capability of providing the required adapter and current commercial availability. Responses to this notice are due on or before 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 8 July 2008. Priority for consideration will be given to small businesses. In the event a suitable number of small businesses respond, large businesses may not be contacted for product review. This synopsis does not constitute a Request for Quotation, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the government to issue an order or otherwise pay for the information solicited.
