Description
Request for Information Production of soft body armor panels. The U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research, Development & Engineering Center (NSRDEC), Natick, MA, Personal Protective and Equipment Team on behalf of the U.S. Marine Corps System Command, Program Manager Infantry Combat Equipment has a need to identify a business to produce ballistic inserts for a tactical armor vest. The design consists of a front and rear ballistic panel and will be manufactured in accordance with Government furnished patterns and a purchase description that defines ballistic performance and parameters. The ballistic inserts will be constructed of commercially available material and will be sealed in a water tight carrier using commercially available sealing techniques. Approximately 8,000 units are required over a six month period beginning in early FY2009. The Government is conducting this market investigation to acquire information on manufacturers that have experience in the production of soft ballistic armor vest systems. The manufacturer must demonstrate knowledge of meeting ballistic performance standards for fragmentation, 9mm handgun and small arms threats (in conjunction with plates), such as Interceptor Outer Tactical Vest or similar systems. Interested firms are requested to submit relevant information on their company within thirty (30) days following the publication of this RFI. Any relevant company background/experience, and any other information that the company believes demonstrates their value / ability to meet the aforementioned requirements should be included. Respondents must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database and provide a DUNS number. Firms may register for CCR at www.ccr.gov. All information and evaluation results will be controlled and used for Government purposes only.
