Description
Concerns having the ability to furnish the services described herein are requested to give written notification (including the telephone number for a point of contact) to the procuring office above within 10 calendar days from the date of this synopsis. The U.S. Geological Survey, Columbia Environmental Research Center, 4200 New Haven Road, Columbia, MO. ) requires inspection and probable repair of a deep well. The well, referred to herein as well#1, pump and column pipe were replaced in December, 2006. In August, 2007, well #1 began producing water with high turbidity levels. Well #1 is the primary source of research water for all studies conducted at the laboratory and is the most critical piece of equipment at this center. A back up well is available for use for water supply while well#1 is out of service, but it is not designed for, or capable of fulfilling all water requirements at the center. The services include removing the pump motor, the column pipe and pump shaft, and the pump, inspecting all components, and inspecting the general condition of the well including the casing and geological conditions to determine the source of the turbidity. Based on the information at this time, and in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(1), implemented by FAR 5.302-1, the government considers the services specified as a sole source from the Flynn Drilling Company, P.O. Box 265, Troy, MO, and proposes to negotiate a contract with the firm on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required services are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement, and such other materials which correspond to the required items stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, request for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration. This notice may represent the Governments only official notice of this procurement.
