- Description
- The FAA is seeking Viking Sprinkler System certified installers to perform upgrades to the existing Viking Sprinkler System at the Oakland Air Route Traffic Control Center (ZOA-ARTCC) located in Fremont, CA. This project modifies the existing Viking Firecycle fire suppression sprinkler systems that serve the Oakland ARTCC to comply with current Viking Firecycle installation criteria and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems. The Oakland Center is equipped with a total of 4 Firecycle II systems and four Firecycle III systems. The contractor will be required to: 1. Upgrade existing Firecycle II to Firecycle III systems2. Rewire existing Firecycle III systems control panel pressure switch in accordance with Viking Installation Instructions3 Set all soak timers to 5 minutes on all Firecycle systems4 Provide and install system isolation test valves and tamper switches as required on the drawings5 Provide and install flow pressure switches as required by drawings.6 Modify existing sprinkler piping in the Control Room Basement to reposition sprinkler heads within 6 inched of ceiling.7 Provide additional thermal detectors as indicated in the drawings in the Automation Wing Basement8 Repair leaks in the trim piping as indicated in the drawings9 Conduct 5 year inspection on the existing Firecycle flow control valves and check valves.10 Perform acceptance test for all Firecycle systems (8 total) at the facility.11 Interface new flow pressure switch and tamper switch with the building's fire alarm system12 Re-wire, re-terminate and reprogram building fire alarm system with Firecycle control per standard practices as indicated on the drawings.13 Test and re-certify existing fire alarm system upon completion of work. Fire Alarm Testing and Firecycle system testing shall be coordinated. Prime contractors will be asked to provide Viking System certification, submit with offer, and list projects of similar size and scope performed over the last 5-year period. The total contract duration for completion of all work is 45 calendar days. Construction is anticipated to start on September 22nd, 2008 Prospective offerors are strongly encouraged to perform a site visit to assess the actual conditions before submitting a proposal. Details will be available in the solicitation.
