- Description
- This announcement constitutes a sources sought synopsis for written information only. This is not a solicitation announcement for proposals and no contract will be awarded from this announcement. The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center, Norfolk, Virginia and the Naval Ophthalmic Support & Training Activity (NOSTRA) are seeking information for planning purposes on the capabilities of a high performance monochrome laser printer with RFID write capability. The purpose of this sources sought synopsis is to identify monochrome laser printers with RFID write capability that specialize in the sorting of printed documents based on criteria or data within the document itself and with a GEN2 RFID UHF tag attached. NOSTRA will assess the vendors responsiveness to the sources sought synopsis and review the information in the submittal. NOSTRA will assess the vendors ability to perform the scope of services as demonstrated by the information submitted. The vendor should demonstrate its ability to customize the printer software. The availability of personnel, equipment, and other resources needed to successfully complete this project should be addressed. The vendor should also include any previously completed work similar in size and scope of work, to demonstrate expertise. NOSTRA currently hand-sorts over 4000 single page orders by hand per day which is very time consuming and labor intensive. NOSTRA is seeking a networked printer that will perform the sorting of the single page orders in an automated fashion based on a set criteria which is dynamic and requires the printer to determine which tray to pull from and which output bin to send to. The printer must be able to receive print jobs from our backend system which sends print jobs to the print queue in an ASCII format. The printer must parse the dynamic data in the print job and determine, based on the dynamic data in the given field or fields, which colored paper to use and which output bin to send the order to. The printer must have a minimum of eleven (11) output bins. Due to the volume of orders that are received on any given day, the printer must also have a minimum of one high-capacity drawer and a minimum of 2 low-capacity drawers. Other minimum requirements: 128MB RAM (expandable to 640MB), 50 ppm (48 ppm for A4), Time to first page 8.5 seconds, Intuitive operator panel with graphical user interface, Hard disk data encryption for print job data security and printing restriction Noise Level, Idle 30 dBA, Print Noise Level, Operating 55 dBA, Maximum Monthly Duty Cycle: Up to 250000 Pages per month, Specified Operating Environment Temperature: 16 to 32C (60 to 90F), Humidity: 8 to 80% Relative Humidity RFID UHF Optional writer add-on. The contractor shall provide price information for installation, outside contract labor, any additional fees, and a 1 2 year warranty on equipment, installation, and support with optional warranty years available. Responses to the sources sought synopsis should be e-mailed to both Ron Meck ron.meck@med.navy.mil (757) 887-4630 and Deedie Weaver deedie.weaver@med.navy.mil (757) 887-7541, This is not a request for proposal. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this request or otherwise pay for the information solicited.
