Description
The mission of the Multinational Security Transition Command – Iraq (MNSTC-I), henceforth referred to as the “Coalition”, is to assist the Iraqi Government in the development, organization, training, and sustainment of Ministries capable of defeating terrorism and providing a stable environment in which representative government, individual freedom, the rule of law, and free market economy can evolve and which, in time, will contribute to Iraq’s external security and to the security of the Gulf Region. More specifically, the Coalition goal in advising and assisting the Ministry of Defense (MoD) and the Ministry of Interior (MoI) is to build processes and institutional capacity within the ministries in order to place them on the critical path towards Iraqi security self reliance. This requirement is for the mission of augmenting the military and civilian personnel engaged in mentoring and assisting the Iraqi Ministry of Defense (MoD) and Ministry of Interior (MoI) to design, implement, and sustain systems that increase their institutional capabilities to support Iraqi Security Forces (ISF). The ultimate goal is to improve MoD and MoI performance in order to attain the capability to organize, train, equip, and sustain all Iraqi Security Forces (ISF). Emphasis will be given to providing the Iraqis the tools and means required to arrive at solutions to the various issues they face in increasing ministerial capacity.
