Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the NIST Physics Laboratory, intends to negotiate with The MathWorks Inc, 3 Apple Hill Drive, Natick, MA 01760, on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR Subsection 13.106-1(b), for the purchase a group licenses of MATLAB for the period of August 1, 2008 through July 31, 2009. Brand Name Justification: This requirement for MATLAB licenses is in support of the NIST’S Optical Technology Division to enhance collaboration among the staff of the Division to improve upon old and develop new MATLAB programs for the remote sensing project. NIST already has 5 seats and intends to purchase 4 additional seats. Based on the recent market research, NIST believes that MATHWORKS, INC. is the only entity that can satisfy NIST’s requirement for MATLAB. NIST anticipates negotiating and awarding a firm-fixed-price type purchase order to MATHWORKS, INC for this requirement. Interested parties that are authorized by MATHWORKS, INC to sell the following MathWorks products: shall clearly and unambiguously identify their capability to do so in writing on or before the response date for this notice. Such written responses will be used solely to determine whether competitive procedures could be used for this acquisition.
