Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs, National Cemetery Administration (NCA), Memorial Programs Service (MPS) is seeking assistance from Industry in making a determination concerning the design and placement of a memorial wall or other device for the display of memorial markers in national cemeteries. This Request For Information (RFI) is not a solicitation. The purpose of this wall/display is to affix a large number of individual memorial markers (or plaques) to honor and memorialize deceased service members, veterans and eligible family members whose remains are not available for burial. Currently, memorial markers are traditional headstones or markers that are placed in designated areas in national cemeteries. This wall/display may be made of cement, marble, granite, or other materials normally used in the industry. This wall/display will hold a large number of individual memorial markers or plaques that may be affixed with glue, cement or other material used in private sector. Wall/display must withstand continuous exposure to inclement weather including all the extremes of heat and cold. The wall/display must be easily accessible to visitors, and should be at a height that allows visitors to clearly read and touch the markers. Please provide both positive and negative feedback for each material suggested using the attached format. Any inquiries or information should be sent to Gina White, Gina.white@va.gov or Broderick J. Stone, Broderick.stone@va.gov. Questions concerning this RFI must be submitted electronically, in writing via email by COB July 25, 2008 to Gina White. All submittals of responses are required to be received in the same manner no later than COB July 31, 2008. Please complete the form below concerning the memorial wall/display area being considered by the Department of Veterans Affairs, National Cemetery Administration. Annotate the preferred selection and explain your choice. Include any specific information to demonstrate the reason. Add overall comments, as well, to provide additional information based upon your knowledge and expertise. Please provide pamphlet, catalog, drawings or brochure when sending information to MPS. If this type of work has been performed by your company in past, provide contact information to include place of performance, photos and name and phone number of contact person. Attached are photos of two different memorial walls. Do NOT duplicate the attached photos. These photos are strictly used for informational purposes only.
