- This is a modification-3 to the synopsis entitled Instruments and LaboratoryEquipment which was posted on 6/30/2008. You are notified that the following changes aremade: ADDRESS ANY QUESTIONS/QUOTES TO JANET APPLETON AT janet.l.appleton@nasa.gov or FAX256-544-6560.1. QUESTION:What initial temperature does the tank need to be heated from?ANSWER:Once the tank is heated to 100 degrees or 140 degrees it will stay there all the time.2. QUESTION:How long is the user willing to wait for "heat up" to occur?ANSWER:There is no set time, the temperature just needs to stay at the required settings once itreaches either 100 degrees for one tank and 140 degrees for the other tank.3. QUESTION:Indicate the pressure that the hot water system will be operating at?ANSWER:125 psi4. QuestionIs there one wind tunnel heat exchanger or two?ANSWER:One, in the water tank.5. QUESTION:What can we expect the return water temperature to be from the exchanger/s at each flowrate? We need to know the flow rate and temperatures of both sides of the wind tunnelheat exchangers.ANSWER:We only measure the temperature of the tank. There are 2 pumps attached to the tank;their flow rates are given in the original specifications.6. QUESTION:Is there a preference on the tank material; 316SS or 304SS?ANSWER:304SS is fine.7. QUESTION:It is understood that tanks will be field insulated by others; therefore, are we requiredto provide insulation clips on the tanks?ANSWER:No.8. QUESTION:What voltage do you require for the automatic water level controls? ANSWER:If it's output is from a sensor, 0 to 10 volts. If it's controlled then 24 volts.9. QUESTION:What is your time frame requirement for delivery?ANSWER:As soon as possible without rush order charges10. QUESTION:Are there size limitations on tank diameter and height?ANSWER:The current tank is approximately 60" wide x 160" tall. We really don't want anythingmuch larger if possible but this could be discussed based on what is available.The due date for quotes has been extended to 7/25/2008 3:30 p.m. CST. Address quote toJanet Appleton/PS22.Please provide quote via your companies standard submission procedures.Documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet.
