- Description
- FDA-SOL-08-00827 The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) intends to solicit proposals for a contractor to build an Adaptive Optics Fourier Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (AO-FDOCT) system. The adaptive optics Fourier domain optical coherence tomography (AO-FDOCT) system shall be able to acquire high-speed, high-resolution, cross-sectional retinal images and full three-dimensional retinal maps from human, non-human primate, and large animal subjects (the system is not required to acquire images from small animals). AO components are required to correct for static and dynamic aberrations to achieve near diffraction-limited illumination beam focus. Spectrometer-based FDOCT hardware shall achieve a theoretical axial resolution of <6 μm in tissue. An auxiliary wide-field imager is necessary to obtain a global view of the retina for orientation and to facilitate AO-FDOCT scan positioning. All software and a detailed user manual shall be included. The system shall be installed at FDA and training shall be provided to FDA scientist(s) by the contractor. It is anticipated that one (1) firm fixed price contract will be awarded with a performance period of six (6) months from the date of award. FDA intends to solicit this requirement as a total small business set-aside requirement. This announcement is not a request for proposal (RFP). FDA anticipates release of the RFP on or around August 7, 2008 and it will be available on the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) website. The anticipated award date for this effort is on or before September 8, 2008.
