Description
NAICS Code: 334519 NAICS Code:334519. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Office of Acquisition Management, Headquarters, Emergency Response Service Center, Mail Code 3805R, 1200 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20460 intends to award a sole source order to RAE Systemslocated in San Jose, California based on the authority of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Part 6.302-1 for the following items: Eight Wireless ChemRAE Portable Chemical Warfare Agent Detector Kits (with modem). RAE Systems is the only known manufacturer of these kits. These kits detect chemical warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals and allows EPA's Emergency Response Team (ERT) to monitor chemical warfare agents remotely via radio frequency using the AreaRae Systems already owned by ERT. Being able to remotely detect warfare agents provides added safety for the employees operating these detectors. The ChemRae kits are the only known chemical warfare agenct detector kits that are compatible with and can accommodate ERT's AreaRae System. To purchase other remote chemical agent monitoring systems would cause substantial duplication of cost to the Government that is not expected to be recovered through competition. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION OR REQUEST FOR QUOTE. The EPA has only one known source for this procurement that is in the government's best interest. If there are any other potential sources, submit your capability statement via email to the US Environmental Protection Agency, c/o Elaine Scott: scott.elaine@epa.gov. no later than 12 Noon EST, July 30, 2008. The determination not to compete this requirement is at the discretion of the Contracting Officer in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b).
