- This Design Build project at Westover Air Reserve Base, Massachusetts consists mainly of diagnosis and resulting repairs of the 4 sliding metal hangar door assemblies (doors, tracks, motors and accessories), 2 on the North side and 2 on the South side of the Hangar with each assembly consisting of 2 doors having 3 sections each. The sections sizes are approximately 76 feet tall and 44.5 feet wide each. There are also the 2 aperture center doors for Building 7040 with each aperture door opening 14 feet by 34 feet requiring repair. Additional work under this contract shall consist of providing demolition of an area of wall panel and framing on the southeast side of the hanger and the design and construction of a new insulated electric overhead door sized for all maintenance equipment and vehicles use. This entry will also require the design and construction of a 30 foot by 100 foot access road. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 236220, with a size standard of $33.5 million. The cost range is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Proposals will be evaluated and awarded utilizing the Lowest Price Technically Acceptable Process. A construction cost limitation will be provided with the technical requirements solicitation documents. The proposal evaluation criteria consist of the following: Experience, Past Performance Price and Pro Forma Information. The contractor must demonstrate the ability to perform the contract requirements including specialized capability and experience to do the design and repair of the hangar doors and may want to employ the services of an experienced hangar door repair company as a specialty subcontractor. Experience and Past Performance will be evaluated for the prime and any major specialty subcontractors/suppliers identified for the design and repair of the main sliding hangar doors. The solicitation will be available by download from the Internet only. Contract duration is 365 days. The approximate issue date is August 06, 2008 with an approximate proposal due date of September 09, 2008. Project documents will be web only.
