Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Fogarty International Center (FIC) intends to procure the Professional Services of Stephanie Richard to serve as a research assistant. The Institute intends to purchase this service by other than full and open competition under the authority of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) 6.302. She will assist in assessing and measuring the contribution of infectious diarrhea to mortality, malnutrition, impaired gut functionality and the bioavailability of pharmaceuticals in the presence of abnormal mucosa. She will work primarily with the Division Director to assist in the programmatic and administrative management of the overall project and others related work performed by the Division of International Epidemiology and Population Studies (DIEPS). This project is in conjunction with a multi-site, multi-year study to be conducted on four continents and requires an individual who has technical competencies to administer large complex multi-national studies. Grant writing and analytical skills are required as well as the ability to write project reports and scientific papers. This is a continuation of work that Ms. Richards was working on with the DIEPS on unique datasets of zinc supplementation, diarrhea disease and its contribution to malnutrition. This research is intended to generate co-authored scientific literature to be published in peer reviewed journals. Ms. Richards’s education and experiences focusing on nutrition and micronutrient supplementation of impoverished populations make her uniquely qualified to undertake research examining the connections between chronic diarrhea, malnutrition and other long term sequelae. Her ability to analyze and manage data also makes her uniquely suitable for this position. It is anticipated that the Request for Quotation (RFQ) NIHDK2008051-A will be available fifteen (15) days after the publication date of this synopsis. Receipt of quotations will be due ten (10) days after the release of the RFQ. All interested parties to this solicitation may request a copy of the RFQ package in writing to the attention of Ms. Tina Robinson at National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases 6707 Democracy Blvd., Room 774B, Bethesda, Maryland 20817, or by email to: robinsont@mail.nih.gov. All requests must contain offerors name, address, telephone number and fax number.
