Description
The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) will host a Technology Summit with Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) on 12-13 August 2008 at the Holiday Inn, 2800 Presidential Drive, Fairborn, OH 45325. The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) discovers, develops, and integrates affordable warfighting technologies for the United States air, cyber and space forces. AFRL leads the development of capability options that meet the needs of the Air Force, providing rapid solutions in response to urgent warfighter requirements, and conducting long-term research driven by a bold technology vision. The purpose of this summit is to discuss what AFRL is calling "University Strategic Partnerships" with MSIs to develop long-term relationships in support of continued technical innovation. We view MSIs as an underutilized resource that is essential to meeting our future Research and Development (R&D) requirements. In that vein, we want to ensure that the academic pipeline to the MSI community is in the forefront of new opportunities afforded by AFRLs execution of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Act. In order to facilitate these partnerships, AFRL is hosting an overview on 13 August 2008 of our Core Technical Competencies in each of our ten technical directorates: propulsion, sensors, munitions, space, directed energy, materials and manufacturing, human performance, air vehicles, information technologies and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. All meetings and activities will be unclassified. Audience is limited to U.S. Citizens and green card holders only. Registration for the summit will start on 21 July 2008 and cost $150 - to cover breaks, a networking reception and lunch. Please register by 6 August 2008. This event is being sponsored by the Air Force Research Laboratory. Universal Technology Corporation is providing administrative support for the summit and registration.
