Description
On or about 11 August 2008, this office will issue Invitations for Bid for construction of the Repair Upper Retaining Wall Monolith No. 24, Fort Randall Dam, Pickstown, SD. The solicitation will close on or about 11 September 2008. This solicitation is designated for Small Business Set-Aside. It is highly recommend that Contractors inspect the site of the proposed work. For site visit appointments, Contractors need to contact Gary Paul Fort Randall Dam, 605-487-7845 X3232. DO NOT submit requests for plans and specifications to the site visit personnel listed above. See Obtaining Solicitation Documents below. Project Description: Work involves stabilizing monolith No. 24 on the upper retaining wall. The scope of work includes boring 13 anchor holes through the retaining wall and chalk material as well as boring 4 new weep holes for drainage. Threaded anchor bars will be inserted into each hole with the use of spacers and centering devices. The embedded length of the anchors will be grouted full and allowed to cure. After the grout has reached its full strength, tensioning of the anchors will be required to ensure they can resist a pull out at 15 kips. Once the anchors have been properly tensioned the locking nut on the face of the retaining wall will be locked off. Weep holes will be bored to a depth of several inches beyond the inner face of the concrete wall and lined with a 4 PVC pipe and grouted in place. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $100,000 and $250,000. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 60 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. Bonding documents including the power of attorney shall bear an original signature by an officer of the surety.
