- The scope of this contract is to provide expert riparian fisheries consultation services to the San Dimas Technology and Development Center (SDTDC). These services will support the development, installation and monitoring of a new type of automated fish detection and counting device, hereafter referred to as FDCD. The FDCD generates benign electric fields in a narrow swath across the width of a stream and measures changes in those fields to detect the presence, size, and direction of travel of fish swimming over the sensor. The device requires less site modification, consumes less power, and offers finer resolution than comparable equipment. The FDCD is transitioning from the lab prototype stage of development to a field prototype. The FDCD vendor is not experienced in fisheries management, and will modify the lab prototype design to meet general requirements for field installations. The successful offeror shall design site-specific installations for two field prototypes, based on information gathered from observing the field installation of the first prototype and communicating with the FDCD vendor, SDTDC, and local contacts for the additional sites. The successful offeror shall then prepare the additional FDCDs for installation, travel to the site, install the FDCDs, and submit a project report.
