- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to issue a fixed price purchase order on a noncompetitive basis to Douglas Instruments located in Bershire, United Kingdom. The scope of this purchase order is to purchase the Oryx4 Crystallization System to include installation and training at custom labs to perform crystallization studies. The overall purpose of the project will take three dimensional crystal structure analyses of potentially pandemic viral proteins. Getting diffraction quality crystals is the crucial step to solve the three dimensional structures. Center for Disease Control and Prevention requires a system that performs both micro seeding by the "MMS" method and micro bath-under-oil methods. It sets up optimization grids where protein is varied in one direction and an additive is varied orthogonally. The system sets up micro bath-under-oil experiments where all drops are well-formed and covered with oil Micro bath-under-oil is particularly useful for sensitive samples such as viral proteins and viral particles with the Oryx4 sets up micro seeding experiments where only 200 nl valuable seed stock are wasted. The Oryx4 tips are reusable. Douglas Instruments has been identified as the vendor that sells the Oryx4 Crystallization System (naoliter drop setters) that performs efficiently "MMS" micro seeding Method or the micro bath-under-oil method. The North American Industry Classification Code is 423490 This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, but all replies received within 15 days of publication will be considered. A determination not to compete based on responses received, and to proceed with a noncompetitive award is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
