Description
The American Embassy Manila, Philippines intends to standardize on General Motor passenger and non-passenger vehicles in order to carry out its mission. This is in the best interests of the U.S. Government as there is a continuing need to repair and replace vehicles. It is more cost effective to maintain one brand of vehicles for the following reasons: 1. Currently the post fleet consists of one hundred (100) vehicles. Among them vans, sedans and sport utility vehicles. Sixty percent of post fleet is General Motors. There is a continuing need to replace vehicles that are unserviceable or uneconomical to maintain or operate. 2. The Embassy has standardized on General Motors passenger and non-passenger vehicles since 1984 and has recommended renewal of standardization. Services and parts for General Motors vehicles are available locally. Manila also has in-house mechanics with years of experience on General Motors vehicles. 3. The practicality of maintaining a stock of parts for a specific make of vehicle is desirable as well as cost effective. Other positive results from standardization include the ability to interchange parts in emergency situations as well as maintaining requirements for equipment to a minimum. 4. Post also consider that having a larger number of vehicles of the same make and model would be advantageous when meeting requirements for vehicle armoring. This announcement is for informational purposes only; it is not a request for proposals or quotations. Interested firms may email capability statements to the point of contact identified below. Capability statements are due by the response date stated in this announcement. A determination by the Government to standardize this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
