- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Acquisition Management Division has a requirement for Spinner Flask Systems that meet or exceed the following specifications: Minimum Specification : •Spinner flasks must come in 2 types: with bottom indent to induce efficient mixing and without bottom indent for stirring by regular stir bar placed in bottom of flask •Spinner flasks must have 100 mm center cap with two 45 mm side arms (or larger) •Spinner flask side arms must have 0.2 micron ventilated caps •Spinner flasks must have dimensions that allow them to be operated with medium of 13 cm deep to allow complete immersion of rod shaped scaffolds for culture •Spinner flasks must have overhead hanging impeller that spins via magnetic stir plate •Impeller assembly must have three vertical baffles for mixing flask contents •Impeller must have internal steel bearings for smooth spinning •Impeller must be fully disassemble-able for cleaning and sterilization, including removable stir bar incase we want to use the impeller in a static position supporting scaffolds with a regular stir bar beneath it to circulate medium •Impeller must be made of PTFE for easy drilling, sturdy support and autoclaving •Impeller must induce movement of the liquid both horizontally and vertically for efficient stirring •Impeller assembly must screw on with a cap to help keep contents sterile •Impeller assembly must have thick, sturdy teflon parts and molding that will support drilling and mounting of scaffold supports for custom modifications to fit our unique needs (culture of rod-shaped scaffolds) •ENTIRE system must be autoclavable including impellers, caps, etc. •Stir plates must be designed for use in humidified CO2 cell incubators (able to with stand hot and humid conditions over years) •Stir plates must be able to accommodate five 1L spinner flasks and still fit inside CO2 cell incubator •Stir plate stirrers must have brushless motors for long life •Stir plates must have dimensions 16.5 x 18 x 3.5 or less (in order to fit in incubator) •Stir plates must be made of steel •Stir plates must have non-slip timing belts •Stir plates must have digital readout Stir plates must have speed range of 15-500rpm Based on the recent market research, NIST believes that only Bellco Biotechnology can satisfy NIST’s requirement. NIST anticipates negotiating and awarding a firm-fixed-price type purchase order to Bellco Biotechnology for this requirement – under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) Interested parties that can also meet the above specifications may clearly and unambiguously identify their capability to do so in writing on or before the response date for this notice. Such written responses will be used solely to determine whether competitive procedures could be used for this acquisition.
