- Description
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District is soliciting prospective contractors to dredge and dispose by mechanical or hopper dredge, approximately 50,000 cubic yards of material from 5-6 distinct shoal areas located throughout Canal. The maintenance material to be dredged and disposed consists of medium to coarse granular material, primarily gravel and sand. Disposal will be at the off shore Cape Cod Canal Disposal site. The dredging is to remove shoals that will restore the 32 foot deep sea level canal (mean low water), plus 2 feet overdepth. Tide range in the Canal varies from 4.0 feet at the west end (Buzzards Bay) to 9 feet + at east end (Cape Cod Bay). In addition to differing in range, the tides in these two bays differ in phase and mean tide level. As a result, the currents in Canal change direction every 6 hours, and reach an average maximum velocity of 4 - 4.5 knots, with moon and spring tides achieving 6 knots. The NAICS code for this Procurement is 237990 with a Size Standard of $17,020,000. This solicitation is issued on an unrestricted basis.
