Description
The USITC seeks to contract a sole source with Xerox for 2 Xerox 3535 color printers and A Xerox Docutech 6180 Production Publisher. However, the USITC is seeking whether or not there are other sources that can provide these products. The description of the products is as follows: The Xerox Docutech 6180model serves as a back-up to the Xerox Nuvera 288 model. The two publishing machine’s ability to effectively communicate via a shared front-end has streamlined the printing process within the Commission. The DocuSP front end provides a common workflow across the two Xerox digital production systems to ensure the highest levels of productivity in all print environments. Losing this level of efficiency and seamless communication would hinder the agency as a whole. Along with the important requirement of having a back-up system that uses a Xerox FreeFlow DocuSP Next Generation Controller as the front-end, additional specifications play a role in selecting a printer that not serves as a black/white back-up, but possess the ability to run print jobs in tandem with our Nuvera 288 model. We require that our proposed black/white back-up have a CPU platform without adding additional software to the network. We also require that our proposed black/white back-up be able to perform in-line perfect binding, which is essential to the daily work operation performed in our print environment. The two Xerox 3535 color printer replacements should have the ability to generate Business color at a speed of 70 pages per minute, while having the ability to interact with other Xerox printers on the Network, via the free flow make ready environment that is already implemented within our print shop. The free flow make ready environment drives the need to have color printers that can also perform page exceptions from a digital front end (DFE). The agency has made a major investment in the digital printing environment with the acquisition of the Nuvera 288, and we can’t afford to lose the seamless connection across printing platforms. Losing this level of efficiency and seamless communication would hinder the Commission as a whole. All responses to this announcement must include the functionality and specifications of each machine in detail. All information provided must be typed in Word format in 10 pages of less. All responses to this sources sought are on a voluntary basis. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information to this announcement or any follow-up request. All documents provided to the USITC will become the property of the USITC. The USITC reserves the right to not make an award to any responders. All comments or questions should be addressed to Delores Butler, in writing at Delores.Butler @USITC.Gov.
