- Description
- The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, Maryland intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, a purchase order with iCyt Mission Technology, 2100 S. Oak Street, Champaign, Il 61820. The NIH, Gerontology Research Center (GRC), in Baltimore, Md has a requirement for a high speed sorter. The system shall have the following specifications: The instrument shall be capable of sorting multiple samples simultaneously (using parallel sorting modules) which can be placed in a biosafety level 2 cabinet, permitting the sorting of bio-hazardous samples. 1.The system can be configured to have two or more highly automated parallel sorting modules mounted on the same instrument frame. 2.All sorting modules inside of a Baker SterilGARD® III Biosafety Cabinet (BSC) in a manner that meets NSF Class II certification standards for operator and product protection. 3.All lasers, photo detectors, optical filters, analog to digital converters, pneumatic valves, computers, and power supplies are mounted outside the BSC such that adjustment and service can be accomplished without entering the BSC. 4.Sufficient space is available inside the BSC, such that bio-hazardous material (samples, sort collections, etc) can be handled in a manner compliant with Class II procedure. The BSC, with the sort modules mounted inside, is a usable Class II cabinet. 5.Each sorting module is mounted on a single common optical bench that is shared by all sorting modules, lasers, and laser beam steering optics. 6.Each sorting module is configurable as to utilize any laser mounted on the common optical bench. 7.Each sorting module is capable of sorting at an event rate greater than 70,000 cells per second. 8.Each sorting module is compatible with jet-in-air nozzles with orifice diameters of 70, 100, 125, and/or 200 microns. 9.A server computer, running Microsoft Server 2003 operating system, provides automated monitoring and control of sample introduction rate, stream droplet break-off position, sort fraction percentage; total sort time, and total cells sorted per stream. 10. A server computer, running Microsoft Server 2003 operating system, allows multiple PC computers to remotely control the sorting operation of any of the sorting modules through standard internet connection. 11.A server computer, running Microsoft Server 2003 operating system, all multiple PC computers to share the same real-time data stream produced from single sorting module through a standard internet connection. This means that in real-time, multiple users, at different locations on the internet, can view the same data feed from a single sorting module. 12.A server computer, running Microsoft Server 2003 operating system, allows real-time acquisition and display of data produced by each sorting module on personal computers running Winlist Software (Verity, Topsham, ME). 13.A digital signal processing (DSP) system is able to perform discrete time Fourier transform (DTFT) at greater than four specific frequencies on fluorescence pulses produced by amplitude modulated laser excitation fast enough to support sorting on all modules. This requirement is a small business set-aside. The Northern American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) is 334516, with a size standard of 500 employees; any response must be received in writing within thirteen (13) days from the published date of this notice. Information furnished should include enough material to allow the Agency to perform a proper evaluation.
