Description
********Questions and Answers From Site Visit*********** Question: Is this area considered a confined space? Answer: This area is considered a confined space and all appropriate OSHA and industry safety standards should be applied. Question: Can we block the road during performance? Anwer: Blocking one lane of traffic to park trucks, etc. is fine. If it is really necessary, a 24 hour period of total road closure is possible. Question: How should the area be prepped? Anwer: The area should be prepped in whatever manner you feel is appropriate for the coating to adhere properly. The area is not overly dirty, but there is some residual #2 fuel oil and some small cracks. Question: Does the pipe next to the tank need to be prepped/coated? Answer: Only pipes penetrating the 4" rise area are an issue. They should be prepped and coated well enough so that it does not adversely effect the coating on the concrete and tank. Question: What format should quotes be submitted? Answer: There is no set format. Corporate letterhead is fine. Question: Is open air blasting (for the purposes of site preparation) permitted? Answer: The following were offered by engineering as a base standard for blasting and media: 1. No blasting when prevailing winds are toward either boiler room or flight trainer building. 2. Use a non silica based media. 3. Containment of media to the area of application is required. Tent or deflection barrier, etc... Base will stop the job if media is threatening, mission, cars, infrastructure, or health. Question: What is the wage classification for this job? Anwer: Number 23760: Painer, Maintenance. Question: Is there a warranty? Answer: A one year warranty was effectively incorporated into the solicitation (see above changes.) The warranty is to be for one year with no cracks, blisters, or separation from the concrete wall in evidence. Remedy shall be removal of affected portion plus 6 inches and reapplication/patch.
