- Description
- This solicitation is hereby amended to address questions/concerns from industry and to extend the due date for quotes. Question: Is homogeneity required or will our std spec be sufficient (standard spec. homogeneity over a 10mm Diameter sphere.6%)? Answer: standard is fine. Question: Bore size Answer: Bore size is set by requirement of 50 square cm (required) and 75 - 100 square cm (greater consideration) area on the sample stage, as well as all other stages. Question: Field orientation Answer: Vendor's choice. Question: Sample size Answer: Sample stage shall have a diameter of at least 10 cm (minimum), with at least 15 cm better (greater consideration). However, we note that there is a tradeoff between sample stage size and total size/mass; vendors shall make the best combination of both specifications that they are able. Question: Cryostat Dimensions Tender requires 25 Kg x 1.5m high x 1m wide. The dimensions are similar to our standard system but the weight of the system required is 25Kg compared to 135Kg for our system. Is 25Kg a typo on the tender? Can we quote something greater than 25Kg and not be penalized? Answer: 25 kg is not an error; however, please note that this does not include the mass of any pumps, but only the mass of the cryostat (ie, Dewar and insert). The specification for size and mass is listed in the "Greater consideration" section, not in the "minimum required technical specifications" section. This answers the question regarding penalties. The due date for quotes is hereby extended through Monday, August 25, 2008, 3:30:00PM EST. All other terms and conditions remain the same.
