- Description
- Contracting Office Address: AURA-Gemini Observatory, 670 N. A'ohoku Place, Hilo, Hawaii, 96720 Original Point of Contact: Andrew Flach, Gemini Contracts Manager, Phone (520) 749-1560, Fax (520) 203-0237, Email aflach@gemini.edu The Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc. ("AURA"), acting as the operator of the Gemini Observatory, is interested in procuring one or more advanced near-infrared detectors that are optimized for use in wavefront sensing applications. Gemini Observatory is seeking delivery of mechanical samples, engineering grade devices and one science grade detector for testing and characterization purposes. Following testing and characterization, the first device may be used in the Gemini Planet Imager instrument, currently under construction. Depending on the cost per unit and the performance of the first device, Gemini may procure an additional 4 or 5 science grade detectors over a ~24 month development program. The nominal specifications include a 128×128 pixel format sensitive from 0.9-1.7 micron in a compact TE-cooled package. Frame rates as high as ~1000 fps with ~5 e- read noise (double correlated read) are required. A Request for Proposal (RFP) for this procurement will be issued by AURA in Aug. or Sept. 2008 to those that submit a request to receive the RFP by 19 Aug 2008. Requests to receive the RFP should be sent by email to Andrew Flach, Gemini Contracts Manager, at aflach@gemini.edu, and should reference N281521 in the subject line. In the body of the email please give the name of your organization and the contact information (name, email, street address, and telephone) for the person who will serve as your single point of contact for this procurement. Please do not send a proposal at this time, but wait to receive the RFP which will have a variety of additional requirements and specifications.
