- Description
- The FAA is seeking qualified Structural Engineers licensed in the State of Illinois to propose and implement a solution to structural complications that have occurred at the Terminal Radar Approach Control Facility located at 1100 Bowes Rd. in Elgin, IL. Some of the TS 8x8x5/16 steel columns of exterior frames forming the vertical trusses that support the roof trusses of the Operations Wing have failed due to water infiltration that froze during winter months, causing longitudinal cracks near the base of the columns. This project consists of three tasks: 1.Presentation of the solution. 2.Fabrication/manufacture of repair structural elements (AISC Certification not required but highly recommended). 3.Implementation of solution. The Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment and materials required to complete the repair. Demolition and other noisy procedures shall be completed during the off peak hours of 10pm and 5am. The Contractor shall take all steps necessary to avoid the migration of any fumes from tools, materials and products used during the repair into the operational areas of the TRACON. Offer range is between $250,000 and $500,000. NAICS Code is 541330. Start of project is anticipated for October 2008. Interested firms should submit a completed SIR Package attached to this announcement to the Contracting Officer named above, 2300 E. Devon Ave, Des Plaines, IL 60018.
