- Description
- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for supplies in which the government intends to acquire in accordance with FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisitions Procedures. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Mission Support Division located in Seattle, WA intends to acquire the following supplies for five NOAA ships: 1. Quantity of 5 each Gimble Mounting Box P/N70026 and 2. Quantity of 5 Pkg SAL R1a Speed Log- Single Bottom with Sea Valve. Package Must include: qty of 1 each 703800 ELC Electronics Unit, qty 1 each 705050 TRU Transducer with 30m Cable, qty 1 each 71-21540-00 MSSBSV Bottom part Set Steel Hull Mounting Set for single Bottom with Sea Valve, qty 1 each 704043 SDA Speed/Distance Display and qty 3 each 703810 Manual. Consilium systems are currently the fleet standard for the NOAA west coast fleet. They are the only systems that provide proper and working input to the ships electronic charting systems. The salient characteristics of this system is the correlation principle on which the Consilium speed log system works sends simultaneously two short parallel sound pulses into the water from two fore and aft oriented crystals. The direction of the pulses is perpendicular to the ships hull. Each short pulse creates a reflected sound energy, which is unique for each reflected volume of water. This creates two similar curve-patterns from the two crystals, but separated in time. The correlation technique uses the time difference between the two curve-patterns to determine the ship's speed.
