Description
The VA Mid-Atlantic Healthcare Region (VISN6) Central Acquisition Service intends to procure sole source with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), 1700 Diagonal Road, Suite 625, Alexandria, Virginia 22314 for a period of one year and two option years. The place of performance will in the Washington, D.C area and other areas to be determined. This procurement is to improve hospice and palliative care outreach to veterans who are homeless or who live in highly rural areas.The title of this procurement is: Reaching Out: Quality Hospice and Palliative Care for Rural and Homeless Veterans. The purpose of this project is to improve outreach to veterans and increase availability and utilization of high quality hospice and palliative care with an emphasis on veterans who are homeless or who may be living in rural areas. This project will stimulate and identify innovative programs that foster VA collaboration with State Hospice Homes, hospices and other providers of care and services for veterans. It will also provide recommendations to the Veterans Administration (VA) Hospice and Palliative Care Program on ways to improve outreach to veterans and better utilization of quality of end of life care for rural and homeless veterans. NAICS code 621610 applies to this procurement. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotations. This notice of intent is not a request for quotations. Interested parties who believe they can meet this requirement must submit information about their capabilities no later than 2:00pm, EST on August 29, 2008. All information shall be furnished at no cost or obligation to the Government. This award will be made using simplified acquisition procedures. No solicitation will be made available. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Telephone inquiries will not be accepted.
