- The purpose of this modification is to further define the requirements under this solicitation to include the following: 1) Define the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, 2) Identify the requirement for contractor's to be able to gain access to Andrews Air Force Base and 3) Establish a due date for requests for copies of the solicitation. The United States Secret Service's (USSS) has a requirement for materials and services for the removal of the bodies from four (4) old truck platforms and mounting these bodies on new truck cab/chassis's. Efforts shall include, but is not limited to, welding, wiring, painting, etc. to modify, fabricate and install customized elements in accordance with the requirements specified in the statement of work. The contractor shall provide all labor and materials for this requirement. Performance of this contract shall be limited to the Washington, D.C. (WDC) metropolitan area as defined by the the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and used by the U.S. Census Bureau for the Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) code number 47900. MSA 47900 is inclusive of both Metropolitan Division Areas identified by code numbers 13644 and 47894. Offerors must have installation and maintenance facilities located in the WDC metropolitan area for the performance of this requirement. It is required that the offeror's production, fabrication, installation and maintenance facility be located in the WDC metropolitan area. Hence, competition will be restricted to firms with installation and maintenance facilities located in the WDC metropolitan area. The geographical requirement has been established because c lose proximity to Andrews Air Force Bases is highly preferred for contract execution and to permit timely, immediate, and quick repairs under circumstances requiring maintenance or adjustments to be performed expeditiously. Additionally, the contractor's personnel must be able to gain access to Andrews Air Force Base, if required. This requirement is a 100% small business set-aside. The NAICS code is 336211 with a size standard of 1,000 employees. As a result of this solicitation, a firm fixed price contract will be awarded. The solicitation package shall be made available to interested vendors who can meet the requirements herein. Specific details of this requirement shall be provided in the solicitation. All interested vendors meeting all the requirements as stated herein shall submit their request for copies of the solicitation in writing via email to the attention of Kim Trang at Kim.Trang@usss.dhs.gov by 1200pm, EST, on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008. Requests made by any other means of communication will not be accepted.
