- This is a Sources Sought Notice for the purpose of conducting market research to identify potential sources that possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet Air Force needs for the Cooperative Materials Research Projects - Student Research Program. This notice is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for information solicited. The objective of the Cooperative Materials Research Projects - Student Research Program is to provide undergraduate and graduate - level research, by providing students (U.S. citizens only) who are at institutions of higher learning, in support of the Materials and Manufacturing Technology Directorate's basic research program. Technical projects will be in the areas of materials, physics, chemistry, polymers, metallurgy, ceramics, nondestructive evaluation, mathematical sciences, mechanics, and solid state electronics. Generally the student will be located and will perform the effort at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) Ohio where specialized equipment is available for selected scientific and engineering work. The nature of this effort requires frequent visits to WPAFB to manage ongoing projects and also requires close coordination between recipient personnel and the Air Force during initiation and completion of each individuals work effort.
