- SCOPE OF WORK 1.0General This is a performance based specification to prep and paint a Coast Guard stripe on the Aircraft Control Tower (ATC), Bldg 131. Build and install signs to tower. The contractor shall provide the materials and supervision necessary to complete the project. 1.1Period of performance is 14 calendar days. 1.2The contractor shall begin work within FIVE (5) days of the Notice to Proceed. 1.3All work must be completed before 01OCT2008. 1.4It is highly recommended to perform a site visit prior to submitting your bid. Coordinate all pre-bid site visits with the government point of contact. The work of this project is to prepare corrugated siding for repainting, and then apply paint as shown in the attached diagram. All work will be performed between 30 feet and 65 feet above ground level. 2.0Preparations 2.1Remove any blistered or deteriorated paint within the work area. Clean the steel substrate to bare metal. Apply a coat of metal primer by brush, specifically following the manufacturers instructions. Primer to be B. Moore Ironclad Alkyd Primer (C163) or equal. 2.2Power-wash all dirt and / or paint chalk from all surfaced to be painted. 2.3Replace all sheet metal siding screws that are missing within the area to be painted. 3.0Paint Application Material to be used is latex based metal enamel paint. Furnish B. Moore Impervex Latex High Gloss Metal Enamel or equal. Apply two coats per the manufacturer’s instructions. Application is by brush or roller only. 3.1Contractor shall provide high reach equipment as necessary to work at heights up to 65 feet above ground level. 3.2Contractor shall be responsible for protecting all building facades, adjacent buildings, automobiles and ground surfaces from damage due to paint preparation and application. 4.0Point of Contact The government Project Manager is LT Greg Madalena at (508) 968-6481. Forward all submittals to the project manager. The onsite inspector and Contracting Officers Technical Representative (COTR) is Mr. Bob Zwahlen at (508) 968-6483. Coordinate all site visits with the onsite inspector/COTR. 5.0Additional Criteria 5.1Clean work area at the end of each day 5.2Protect work from damage due to weather or vandalism. 5.3Take all necessary precautions to protect buildings and surrounding areas from paint damage. 5.4Provide any signage as necessary to notify base personnel of painting work. 6.0Inspection The government reserves the right to inspect the work and project site at any time. 7.0Submittals The contractor shall provide submittals on the paint and materials, project schedules to the Project Manager for approval, prior to the beginning of work on the project.
